Learning mathematics should be like playing in the mud. It is common to begin learning a new mathematical topic by giving students algorithms and several examples to follow. This is a great way to start. But if we don’t learn to ask ourselves why the definitions are as they are; what is the purpose of the theorems being taught; why are the conditions of the theorems as they are — we are not truly learning the topic. What happens if we break the conditions of the theorem? Can we create a problem ourselves? Are there other ways to solve the problem or model the question? This is what I mean by playing with math like playing in the mud. Explore the math for yourself and have fun with it! |
I greatly enjoy creating Recreational Math Problems, learning about fascinating new mathematical concepts, growing in my abilities, and simply just playing around within the mathematical sphere. It is my hope that this site will allow me to share my passion with the world. |
